Our Digital Library
January has proven to be an exciting month in our library. Grade 3 - 5 students have created their own accounts for the library website and now are able to perform many tasks using the Destiny program. Students cannot only use the catalogue tab to look for books in our library, but they can also create holds on books, create personal lists, rate books, comment on books and recommend books to their friends. This has encouraged many students to become more actively involved in our school library. Keep up the good work everyone!
Our library has also been the recipent of 2 ereaders - a Kindle and a Kobo. Students will be permitted to sign out the ereaders and take them to their classrooms. The ereaders however, will have to remain in the school, due to possible damage or loss. As well, our library has purchased a number of e-books to add to our library collection. Soon, students will have the opportunity to sign out these e-books as they do for other library books. Students will then be able to read their e-books using their home computers. This is just another way to expose students to our new world of reading.
We look forward to upgrading our technology in the library!
