Library Book Club

During the month of November, Grade 5 students are invited to the library on Day 5's from 12:35 to 1:10 p.m. to listen to the story entitled The Stolen Child, written by Marsha Forchuk Skrypuch. This story takes place just after the Second World War and reflects the Remembrance Day theme for the month of November. Following the reading, students will participate in a book talk, discussing the main issues portrayed in the this very touching story. This book is one of the books nominated for the 2012 Willow Award and can be considered one of the student's books read or listened in order for the student to be eligible to vote in the Willow Awards Reading Program.

Willow Awards

The Grade 4 and 5 students are invited to participate in the Willow Awards Reading Program. Students are invited to read at least 4 out of 10 books which are nominated to receive the Willow Award. These books are written by Saskatchewan and Canadian authors. In late February, students will vote for the book which they felt was the best. Their votes will be tallied up and sent to join the other votes taken throughout the province. The author that receives the most votes provincially will be the recipient of the Saskatchewan Willow Award for 2012. Good luck to all students who participate in this reading program.
